Founded in 1769, Semmelweis University is the oldest Medical School in Hungary. It is a multi-campus University that teaches Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Health Sciences, Health Management, as well as Physical Education and Sport Sciences.

It combines innovation and time-tested tradition in the areas of education, research, and health care, and is widely recognized as one of Europe’s leading centres of Medicine and Health Sciences. The medical departments and University clinics cover a vast area on the Pest side of the capital. Its library, with over a quarter of a million books, has one of the biggest and best-furnished medical-biological collections in Hungary.

Semmelweis University is the largest independent health care provider in Hungary, covering at least six percent of the country’s health care needs. It is also one of the most prestigious research institutions in the country with more than 1300 of its staff actively involved in R&D activities.

With study programs in English, German, and Hungarian, it welcomes International students from over 65 countries from around the world, each year.
